Amitabh Bachchan in Project K (upcoming) and even in Jhund (a 71-year-old playing a soccer coach) breaks the mold. He doesn’t run; he storms. He doesn’t dance; he marches.

Looking ahead, Bollywood is doubling down. We have Jolly LL.B 3 with a returning old man cast. We have sequels to PKP and Munnabhai (Sanjay Dutt, again). We have directors specifically writing roles for Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff.

The answer is psychological. Generation Z and Millennials are suffering from "aging anxiety." They are terrified of growing old in a world of climate change and AI. Watching an old man on screen who is not afraid—who is angry, funny, violent, and alive—is aspirational.
