From high school romance and college rivalry to friendships, social media bullying, and even supernatural elements, Channel V’s Desi Tashan block was a laboratory of experimental storytelling. Each episode ran for approximately 20-22 minutes, perfectly suited for the short attention span of the youth, and was packed with punchy dialogues, trendy fashion, and a killer soundtrack.

Launched as a programming initiative by STAR India, was the brand name for Channel V’s original Indian serials. The term “Tashan” (meaning style, attitude, or swagger) perfectly captured the essence of these shows. Unlike the melodramatic, slow-paced serials on other channels, Desi Tashan serials were fast-cut, edgy, and often tackled topics that mainstream TV dared not touch.

Shows rejected traditional slow-tempo soap opera editing styles.
