During the final battle sequence, when Ganondorf coughs up blood after being struck by the Master Sword, the NTSC 1.0 ROM shows red blood. In later versions (and the GameCube port), Nintendo changed the blood to green (supposedly "monster goo") to maintain a lower age rating. The 1.0 ROM is the only way to see the intended violent consequence of the final blow.
When Shigeru Miyamoto’s team finished Ocarina of Time , they shipped the master ROM to the cartridge manufacturer. Later, they discovered bugs, exploitable glitches, and controversial religious imagery that they feared would raise flags with censors. Instead of halting sales, they quietly updated the code for version 1.1 and 1.2. The original 1.0 carts are therefore the "uncut," raw version of the game.
