We tested Zero Hour (vanilla version) on three Android devices via Winlator 7.0:

Mobile gamers have been starving for a classic PC RTS experience. While titles like Company of Heroes and Roman Empire have made attempts, none capture the fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled tank rushes of Command & Conquer .

If EA hasn't done it, who has? The answer lies with the open-source community and powerful emulation software. There are currently two primary ways to play Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour on Android devices today.

Electronic Arts (EA), the publisher of the franchise, has not released an official port of Generals or Zero Hour for mobile devices. While EA has dabbled in mobile adaptations of their other franchises (like Command & Conquer: Rivals ), that specific game was a simplified 1v1 competitive brawler, not a traditional RTS. It was met with mixed reviews from purists who wanted the base-building mechanics of the original series.

But as we live in an era where Civilization VI and XCOM run natively on phones, one question burns louder than a Scud Storm strike:

Zero Hour was made for 4:3 monitors. On a 16:9 phone screen, you will get black bars or stretched textures. Winlator allows you to set custom resolutions like 1600x1200 to maintain the correct shape.
