The conflict isn't about saving the world from an ancient evil (at least, not yet); it is about passing exams, surviving bullies, and navigating a rigid social hierarchy. The school is divided into dorms: Obelisk Blue (the elite), Ra Yellow (the average), and Slifer Red (the dropouts). Crowler wants to ensure Jaden ends up in Slifer Red, or better yet, fails entirely.
