Mitel: 6940 Firmware Upgrade

Ensure the firmware files are unzipped and placed exactly in the directory path specified by your server configuration. Do not rename the system-generated firmware filenames.

If you are moving to a specific provider (like RingCentral or 8x8), you can trigger the update from the handset: Settings (gear) Voice Services > Manual Upgrade Enter the administrator password. Change the Download Protocol to HTTPS or HTTP as required by your provider. Server URI mitel.8x8.com . The phone will reboot and fetch the latest firmware. The Mitel 6940 operates differently depending on your environment. Is it running (proprietary protocol) or Standard SIP ? You cannot mix these. A SIP firmware will not work on a MiNet system and vice versa. Change the Download Protocol to HTTPS or HTTP

If you are currently running a firmware version lower than , you are missing critical TLS 1.2 support, which many SIP carriers now mandate. Furthermore, the Bluetooth stability on version 6.2.x is night and day compared to the buggy 4.x releases.
