Let’s be honest about the adult content. v0.13.0 includes two new intimate sequences:
A New Place -v0.13.0- is not trying to be fun. It is trying to be true . It is a digital asmr-object for the anxious soul. The update refines the poignant jagged edges of the narrative while polishing the technical framework that holds it together.
A mysterious drifter arrives at the inn during a freak storm. Elara is not a romance option (yet), but a catalyst. Her dialogue trees in this version are the most complex in the game. Depending on your past choices (specifically how you treated your ex-wife in the prologue), Elara will either act as a therapist... or an agent of chaos. Her "Folklore" questline reveals hidden lore about the town’s history of disappearances. A New Place -v0.13.0- -Kintsugi Digital-
Kintsugi Digital has confirmed that v0.13.0 is the penultimate major content update before v1.0. The final version, tentatively titled A New Place: Restoration , is expected in Q4 2025. According to the dev blog, the final chapter will involve the protagonist finally inviting a friend over to see the repaired house—forcing them to accept that someone else might see the beauty in the cracks, too.
The cracks are where the light gets in. Pass the gold. Let’s be honest about the adult content
8/10 – A beautiful, fragile update that reinforces the game’s identity.
For the uninitiated, the studio’s name is the first clue to the experience. Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, platinum, or silver. The philosophy behind it is wabi-sabi : embracing the flawed and the broken, treating the cracks not as damage to hide, but as history to illuminate. It is a digital asmr-object for the anxious soul
The signature feature of this update is a new interactable. When the protagonist finds a broken tea bowl in the attic (a narrative trigger for the chapter "Potter's Dust"), the screen shifts to a first-person view of the table. Using the mouse, the player must mis-match the pieces. The twist? You are not supposed to hide the cracks. The game scores you not on speed or seamlessness, but on how much gold lacquer you apply to the joints. A "perfect" score in any other game is a low score here; the game forces you to highlight the scars.
This game contains mature themes, including emotional trauma, infidelity, and explicit adult content (18+).
The story focuses on a protagonist seeking a fresh start and building new relationships in a small-town setting. Mechanics:
