In a standard raid or outpost assault, you are dealing with melee and ranged attackers—Pillagers with crossbows, Vindicators with axes, and occasionally the Ravager. You can use terrain, blocks, and shielding to manage these threats. However, in The Pillager Bay, you are fighting a two-front war. While you are dodging crossbow bolts from the tower, the Guardians below are firing their piercing laser beams. If you step into the water to avoid the Pillagers, you are slowed, targeted by lasers, and subject to the "Mining Fatigue" effect from the Elder Guardians. If you stay on land, you are pinned down by the Outpost’s garrison.
Prioritize the Outpost first. It offers the high ground and a solid footing. Tower up quickly, placing blocks to shield yourself from crossbow fire. Eliminate the Pillagers one by one. Be wary of the Iron Golem cage often found at the base; if the Pillagers have trapped a Golem, freeing it can provide a crucial distraction. Once the tower is secure, you have a base of operations to look down upon the bay.
