The bonus tracks and demos included in this set (Disc 2) are where the real archaeology happens. Early versions of “Flame” and “Control” show a band experimenting with trip-hop beats and darker ambient textures before pulling back into their signature melodic pop. It is fascinating to hear how close Salvation came to being a genuinely avant-garde, gloomy record.
