It knows exactly what it is: a PG-13 magic show. The dialogue is snappy, the set pieces (from Macau to London) are colorful, and the running gag about "the equivalent of a double negative in a magic trick" is genuinely clever. now.you.see.me.2

What matters is not the chip, but the hiding place. The climax involves a hypnotist forcing the Horsemen to hand over the chip, only for them to reveal they have actually hidden it inside a fake pack of cards—a direct callback to the first film’s finale.
