While many cartoons use the "butterfly effect" trope, Gumball executes it with a frantic, montage-style energy that only this show’s mixed-media animation style can achieve. This is the inciting incident. The brothers embark on a detective mission across Elmore, discovering "forgotten" items everywhere: a cursed dollar bill, a traffic cone that shouldn't be there, and eventually, a missing child named Molly Collins. Molly is the emotional core of the episode.
